#Information for research participants#

Share your experiences, thoughts, and feelings easily with researchers in scientific projects. DearScholar is an intuitive tool that enables you—as participant in academic research—to contribute to science by providing answers to (diary) questions at a regular interval, so called, measurement occasions.

Please install the app only after you received all instructions by your research project coordinator, who also provides you the required login credentials (username and password). On top of that, access to the app is secured by a four-digit PIN code. You are asked to choose a PIN code yourself when logging in for the first time. In case you have Touch ID or Face ID available, no PIN is needed (and asked for), instead, DearScholar opens when your finger or face is recognized.

When opening DearScholar for the first time, we kindly ask you to accept our incoming push notifications. We sparsely send push notifications to help to remind you of upcoming measurement occasions. This way, you never have to worry about missing any of the measurement events. Further instructions about the study and the (diary) questions are provided to you by email and information sessions by your research project coordinator.

Havent received any login credentials or experiencing (technical) issues with DearScholar? Suggestions for improving our app? For issues related to the research project you are participating in, please contact your research project coordinator. For technical issues, please contact the author of DearScholar ([email protected]).‬

Thank you for your time and effort. Your input helps science move forward!

DearScholar offers researchers an intuitive and easy-to-use tool to conduct (self-report) qualitative and quantitative longitudinal diary, log and survey research. The app allows researchers to easily and orderly collect rich and diverse qualitative and quantitative data over long periods of time to answer research questions about inter- and intra-individual changes, developments, and processes.

An academic publication in which DearScholar is described and discussed is under way. Meanwhile you can visit the author’s homepage (www.peterkruyen.net) for information about the app’s possibilities and security aspects.

Interested in using DearScholar for your own longitudinal research project? Contact the author to discuss your project ([email protected]).‬
